I only realized about an hour ago that there is a Show Avatar option under bbPress Settings – > Discussions…
well as you might have guessed that was disabled!
i hope this never happens to anyone, i wasted 5 hours for this

I did find a forum/avatars/ file after all.
Now I feel stupid 
. I don’t know where Bavatar saves my avatars.. I suppose that’s the problem. There is no such file. But where should that be?
My avatar is not stored, I can always upload a new one and it will still show up as empty.
