In reply to: Language file isn't working
I tried defining the language in wp-config. It had no effect.
So, to summarize… I’ve tried calling renaming my files bbpress.po & .mo and bbpress-en-US.po & .mo, I’ve tried them in /wp-content/languages/bbpress/ and in /wp-content/plugins/bbpress/languages/ folders, and I’ve tried define (‘WPLANG’, ‘en-US’); in config.php.
Is there anything else I can try? The instructions linked above were for changing languages completely and I’m not looking to do that. I just want to relabel a bunch of the wording, changing “topics” to “questions” and so on.
Anyone know of anything else I can do to make that work?
Thanks!
In reply to: Language file isn't workingMaybe the language file isn’t what I’m looking for. What I really want to accomplish is renaming “topics” to “questions” and so on.
And, I’ve got multiple websites running below my root. If I change the config file there will be all kinds of trouble.
I’m wondering if I am simply naming the files wrong. The original is bbpress.pot. I named my revisions as bbpress.po and bbpress.mo.
Is this wrong perhaps?
In reply to: Language file isn't workingDoesn’t work.
Are there better instructions anywhere for where to upload the file and what to rename it? (if bbpress.po isn’t what it’s supposed to be)
In reply to: Language file isn't workingGood thought… but I just tried it and it doesn’t make a difference.
In reply to: Buddypress + bbpress plugin – MEmbers PROFILESWhat redirection plugin did you use?
In reply to: bbpress and memcache?Getting weirder…I think I found the root of the problem: my bbpress permalinks are being re-written when someone replies to a forum thread.
Here’a pic and some more detail. Sorry about the frequent posts – there aren’t too many places to go for help!
In reply to: bbpress and memcache?I though I found the solution, reading these threads…maybe it’s an issue with recognizing content types?

But this fix didn’t work – just took the memcached served offline.
In reply to: bbpress and memcache?John James Jacoby,
I’m hesitant to post what I need on a jobs board because of the fact that my setup is so similar to wordpress.com – ideally I would need some direction from someone familiar with their settings.
I would be happy to buy some time of someone there to help me out. Is there anyone that you know of who I could buy an hour of their time?
Thanks!
In reply to: bbpress and memcache? What’s frustrating is that batcache is only supposed to affect visitors who are not logged in. So, anyone making blog comments or forum postings shouldn’t be impacted. But, not so.
With my setup there are two possible files to tweak: batcache’s advanced-cache.php and memcached’s object-cache.php.
Advanced-cache looks to only have one section to tweak, which asks how long to wait before caching (2 visits in 30 second, etc.). I’m thinking that, because batcache only works for not-logged-in members, this file isn’t the culprit.
object-cache.php is a decent sized file with a ton of room for tweaks. Please let me know if any of you have successfully tweaked this file so as not to mess up your forum and blog comments.
Thanks!
In reply to: bbpress and memcache? Thanks for the quick reply JJJ. I’m really looking forward to the new forums, but it sounds like it’s going to be quite some time before it will integrate nicely with buddypress.
DJ Paul thought maybe BP 1.4…ugh.
If you guys have an interim solution, that would be a life-saver.
In reply to: bbpress and memcache?Bringing this topic back…I run a multisite wordpress blog farm with Buddypress and the bbPress install that comes with it.
We use Batcache and Memcached for caching and it works great everywhere but the forums. When you post a reply, it doesn’t show for a long time, or unless the cache is flushed.
Is there any snip that can be added to object-cache.php or advanced-cache.php (batcache) to enable forums to work properly?
Thanks!
In reply to: Installation Failed Halfway ThroughI went ahead and dropped all the bb_ tables and went to re-install. I got this message:
“The key master could not be assigned. You may need to replace bbPress with a fresh copy and start again.”
So, I uninstalled BBPress and uploaded a fresh copy and ran the install again. Sure enough, the install failed at the first step again with “The key master could not be assigned. You may need to replace bbPress with a fresh copy and start again.”
How can I make the key master get assigned?
In reply to: Installation Failed Halfway ThroughYou mean delete “$bb_table_prefix = ‘bb_'” in bb-config?
In reply to: ERROR: Could not establish a database connectionFixed it…Thanks!
Now I’ve got a new problem…I made it all the way through step 3 and the integration. Then, as it actually began the installation, an error message came up saying that I had to manually re-define the auth-key, secure auth-key and one other one. It said installation cancelled.
What is “re-defining?” The number sequences are right.
How do I get the installation to start again?
When I visit the install site, I get
Oh dear!
bbPress is already installed.
Perhaps you meant to run the upgrade script instead?
In reply to: ERROR: Could not establish a database connectionIs it as simple as making some changes in the bb-config file?
