Thank you Arturo for the effort. The problem with the “d” was in the .mo file and I changed that yesterday, thanks to other helpful people in this forum.

How did you know how to help me with the for me unknown picture in the header? How should I have thought to find it myself?

I find the structure of bbPress hard to understand. I would like to see a picture of the start page and explanations for where in which file the different elements are defined. Anyone interested in trying to create such a picture?

A small suggested change in the registration form: “Position” should be changed to “Plats”.

I use bbPress 1.0.1. To make it possible for users to register with Swedish or other non-acii names I use Cyrillian Nickname http://bbpress.ru/downloads/plugins/

To prevent spam robots I also use Human Test available at https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/human-test/ I have translated the few phrases in the plugin. Write me a pm if you want it (I tried to make it available at my site but could not place a php-file there. Should it be zipped?)

It is still “sullat” but I now know how to change that. And did so. However I also have English words for months. I do not know how to change that.

I have another small problem. When displaying posts I also get a RSS-symbol with the letter “d” after it. I like to get rid of both or change “d” to an explanation of the symbol. See http://www.32astolf.se/forum/topic.php?id=3 How can I do that?

I opened the .mo file and changed “sullat” to “tappat” in it using a text editor and saved the change and uploaded it and ir worked. It should perhaps not have been possible but it was!

The second part of my question now seems strange since I pasted what in my e-mail looked like Ditt användarnamn är: Gran Lindgren but it displayed correctly here!

I managed to find the word “sullat” in sv_SE.mo and changed it to “tappat”, saved the changed file and uploaded it and it worked fine.

But when a new user get the password the text looks like this:

“Ditt användarnamn är: åke-örjan

Ditt lösenord är: ••••••••••”

It seems ok in the sv_SE.mo file but is not ok when it reaches the user. What is the problem and how can it be fixed?

In the translation I want to change a word. It states:

“Registrera dig eller logga in – sullat bort lösenordet? ” where the word “sullat” is very unusal and not understandable to many people. How can I replace it with “tappat” ?

CyrNickName might be useful but where can I find it? It is not in the list of plugins and it might be possible to download from a site a found in Russian but I do not understand russian so I could not use it. After more searching I found http://bbpress.ru/downloads/plugins/ where I could download it and it seems to work fine.

As you can see I managed to use my real name also in this forum which I think is nice.

I think all forums where people use their real names get a more civilized discussion since the wide spread tendency to use rude language and ill considered replies diminish when real names are used.

Thank you for fast and helpful answer. I have seen display names mentioned before but I did not understand how to use them. I now found I can change my display name in my profile and chose my full name or parts of it as display name.

I have not yet tried to integrate a WordPress web site with a bbPress forum. Is it now possible to let users log in once to both? Or at least use the same user name and password for both? Can the display name option be used in both?

I am writing a little book in Swedish on how to start a website with WordPress and include bbPress for a discussion forum. The major fault with bbPress is now that is does not work to use Swedish names with diacritic characters like my own, Göran. I have asked for help in this forum before but no solution seems to exist. Strange since many other languages also use such characters and most people are somewhat offended if they cannot use their name if they want. All suggestions how to solve this problem is highly appreciated!

Did my attempt to integrate WP and bbP change my WP-tables in the database?

I tried unsuccessfully to install bbPress again but got the same warning. Now I deleted all tables from my database, both WP and bbP and deleted all program files also. I will make a new try tomorrow but without any attempt to integration. I will install WP and import posts from the exportfile I made before deleting the database.

Any other suggestions?

This is getting to complicated for me. I have given up trying to integrate WP and bbPress. But I still want to try get them look similar. So I deleted my bbPress-tables from the database and deleted all the bbPress-files and started new.

But got new problems, when the installation was made I got a warning:

Yes, I have a language file. As I wrote in my first post:”I specified

define(‘BB_LANG’, ‘sv_SE.mo’);

in the config.php and included sv_SE.mo in a folder called languages in bb-includes”

And I have a language file for WP to. But I do not understand what you mean by merging them?

Thank you for answering! I am afraid I do not understand what you are writing. I do not think I am loading (I am not quite sure what that means) WP into bbP, I just want to integrate in such a way that a reader do not have to login twice to comment on the we site and also in the forum. So my plan is to change the look (skin) of bbPress to be like my WP. I understand this is better from a performance view.

I do not understand what merging of the language files means and how to do it. Please elaborate!

My aim is to make my forum look like my web site. I succeded to a small degree by creating a header that is the same as for my web site. Unfortunately it meant that the layout of the forum changed in a way I do not know how to fix. At http://www.goranlindgren.se/forum/ you can see how far I came. The header is ok but the rest of the page got changed in unexpected ways. My plan was to use the header but have the forum look more like another forum I have at http://www.32astolf.se/forum/

Advice on how to proceed is most welcome!

There are a few other bbPress installtions in Swedish but they also cannot handle Swedish names. There must be many other languages with non-English characters. How do they handle it?

I have made some progress. I took the head from WordPress and managed to get a separate head by copying to Dreamweaver and keeping only the head as can be seen on http://www.enkelwebbplats.se/dig9.html Then I took this head and pasted it into header.php in bbPress. It was partly successful as I got a forum with the content I wanted but the formating is not as I want. I had earlier a Kakumei format with only changed colors (form as in another forum I run http://www.32astolf.se/forum/).

I guess I need to change which style sheets that are used but I do not understand how to get the styles I want for the discussion in my forum from bbPress header.php.

Any help would be most welcome!

I have just started a new forum at http://www.goranlindgren.se/diskussion/

I got a letter with the password with my name Göran but could not log in with, only after giving Gran as my name.

You can log in to the key master account with the following information:

Username: Göran

Password: xxxxxxxxxxxx

This is even worse than before as I think it means that if people with common swedish names register they will get log in information that not work.

I am very interested in the same question. I also use Mimbo (your implementation is very nice!) and I have just changed the footer wchih was easy. But adding the navigation bar at the top I do not know how to do. In by header.php in Mimbo I have the corresponding lines

Thank you for trying but it does not work. I placed the plugin in the folder bb-plugins and activated it. Before your answer I tried as “Göran Åsnäs” which was tranformed to “Gran sns” and after activating the plugin I tried as “Örjan Ågrän” which was tranformed to “rjan grn”. No success at all. I run bbPress 0.9.0.2 upgraded from an earlier version yesterday. My forum is at http://www.goranlindgren.se/forum/

This must affect a lot of users, I know at least one other Swedish forum having the same problem and there must be many in other countries as well.

Thanks for answering but I do not understand how to use it. Should I save a php-file with this code and name it Laxusernames.php? Where shall I place it and how does it start?
