In reply to: Problems with Forum Rating not working
Hi, thought I would let you know that I have discovered that there is a very sneakily hidden blacklist that cannot be edited at all in Mojo Marketplace. I removed this (it’s meant to provide some widgets and new – expensive – themes) and tested and was able to post – as were others. I hadn’t even noticed this previously because there is no way to edit any of the content or functionality in it.
Thank you so much for your help and patience.
In reply to: Problems with Forum Rating not workingAs a minor update, even the word cocktails appears to be blacklisted though I have no idea WHERE this blacklist is – is it possible to just remove that ‘check blacklist’ code from BBPress because it’s ridiculous – I don’t want it to check something that I have no control over just because, especially when I don’t even know where this list is.
In reply to: Problems with Forum Rating not workingThis is something I did look at – I deactivated all the plugins and went back to square one – still got the same issue.
I have the following plugins active on my site:
Akismet
BBpress
Buddypress
Buddypress Group Chat
Buddypress Security Check
Firmasite theme enhancer
Jetpack
Mailchimp for WordPress Lite
Pinterest Verify for WordPress
Polls
Registration Honeypot
Sitewide NewslettersSeveral of these weren’t activated until after the site was already experiencing these issues.
I have looked in Jetpack settings (as this is the only one I can see that could affect the blacklist (logically) but there is nothing in there I can see.
Some of my users are obviously getting frustrated by these strange messages all because they have used something in a joking manner – and we are all adults (I have an age rating on my forum which I moderate quite carefully – and manually – with the site moderators).
In reply to: Problems with Forum Rating not workingEssentially that is the case. I had already created a test account – as I wanted to make sure that things appeared correctly to users previously. Excuse the language in the screenshot, but these are just a few examples (the “Go COCKS”, for example, is a word for word quote from a friend who was showing support for her college football team):
In reply to: Problems with Forum Rating not workingHi,
Unfortunately, they aren’t showing up anywhere at all. The post won’t post fullstop – it doesn’t register as spam and appear in the CMS for me to approve/reject; the user is simply told that they don’t have permission to post at this time. The only reason I know that this is an error because of the language used is that when said language (in the first instance it was a pun about ‘porn’) was stripped out (it was changed to ‘pron’) the post appeared on the site without issue.

In reply to: Problems with Forum Rating not workingHi, this issue has resurfaced, one of the mods was trying to use the word ‘Cocks’ (it’s nothing crude, but in reference to a college football team) and her post keeps on being rejected. The fact that this is something which keeps reappearing is frustrating. I have nothing blacklisted, the boxes are completely empty, yet for some reason my users are being censored.
In reply to: Problems with Forum Rating not workingI have Akismet on my site, and it’s activated (and up to date), and I am referring to the ‘Discussion’ settings. I have set them to the ‘Maximum rating’ and this is the only thing I can see referring to rating across the CMS. I want my users to be free to post whatever language they wish (the site is carefully moderated and anything absolutely inappropriate is removed by the moderators.
In reply to: User unable to post on forumHi,
I have only one security plugin (ignoring Akismet which I currently have switched off) and that is on the user sign up page – this wasn’t there the first or second time her profile was created. I have stripped the site down to the most basic with just bbpress and buddypress running and built it back up again – first with her as a member and then with her not as a member, one that I created. I have removed her from the site and then added her and attempted to post as her – twice and neither time has anything changed, I can’t post as her and she can’t post as herself. The only thing that is the same about her profile each time it’s created is her email address – but I haven’t placed it on a block list/blacklist anywhere so I can’t understand why she is the only person experiencing this problem. It has reached the point for her where she is (understandably) giving up on the idea of becoming a member of the forums as I can’t seem to find any reason why she is the only person having these issues.
In reply to: User unable to post on forumI have checked and the comment blacklist is absolutely empty, there is nothing in there, or in the comment moderation which contains the capability for 8 links to be added before an item is added to the mod list for approval.
In reply to: User unable to post on forumI have now created a new user for her three times, I have even given her a different username the last two times, and still I am unable to make it possible for her to post.
In reply to: User unable to post on forumI have switched off Akismet and now I see the following message when I attempt to post anything in her name:
ERROR: Your reply cannot be created at this time.
In reply to: User unable to post on forumI have a few regular users who have been able to log in and post without issue – I have just logged in as her and while I was able to submit the test post it didn’t appear on the site and it also didn’t appear in the spam for Akismet or in the pending comments on the replies thread. It’s most peculiar, especially as it’s only happening with this one user.
In reply to: User unable to post on forumThe user is able to login, she has registered, her account/username has been authorised. She is able to write in the reply box with no issue but when she clicks on ‘submit’ she gets an error saying that she doesn’t have permission to post.
I have looked in the ‘pending’ but there is nothing there posted by her, which I didn’t expect as she has said she gets the error message when she attempts to post (though that said, occasionally posts by moderators and other users who have had no issues posting do appear there).
I have asked her what browser she uses – she initially used Safari but then switched to using Chrome.
