I would suggest downloading a fresh copy, then replacing bbPress files. Try again and come back.

make sure the db details are correct (database name, username, password, hostname)
I have no clue on this. It might be a pain to do manually but if I were you I would peek into the bbPress’s code responsible for upgrading the database. Good luck!

installing bbPress in a sub folder doesn’t cause any issues. I have integrated several setups like that without even using the integration plugin which has many supporters without which they can’t be integrated.
Things may be different if bbPress isn’t installed in a sub directory as I haven’t tried that.
If they are deeply integrated then you will have a hard time figuring this out as if you ask Is this is WP? WP will say yes and if you ask Is this is bbP? then bbP will say yes and if they are deeply integrated then both questions will return a yes.
That double quote issue is there in the core file. Even the Kakumei produces invalid markup with it.

Replacing a line from Kakumei did the job. may be I accidentally removed that closing div tag. anyways. thanks for your help so far.
Also I want to fix an IE thing.
The sizes of input type text of login are not equal in IE even though I have defined their size=”20″

Mine post-form.php is exactly the same as that of Kakumei.
I can trace the problem to an unclosed anchor tag <a> which is in bbcrumb DIV.

Took a while to load but it loads on IE 8 for me. If you need to look at various IE versions, then take a look at this http://blog.ashfame.com/2009/06/check-webdesign-different-versions-ie/
Its worth the effort if majority of your target audience is using IE.

AFAIK directory index doesn’t depend on browser. Its really a weird issue in my opinion.

I fixed the second & third issue but I am still stuck at the first one.
Looking at the markup I found <select name="forum_id" id="forum-id""> is being generated by bbPress codebut the same works in default theme flawlessly so this isn’t the cause. Can I have the complete lookup order for file required to generate the “Add new” page.
