Installed 1.1alpha by mistake, is that stable enough?

    Hi all.

    We have numerous sites running on WP but this is my first go at bbPress. Even if I I’ve heard the community so dissapointed with the slow development of bbpress (as opposed to WP) and even if I am very concerned that WP 3 is “round the corner” and everything might change… I decided to give it a try for a new site very forum orientated + small review section (which I plan to do via a wp review plugin).

    By mistake installing via SVN i installed and configured 1.1 alpha from the trunk which was not originally my intention. Everything seems fine for now… so my question is if I should revert to the 1.0 stable branch (are there many differences with the 1.0 branch) or this apha version is “safe enough” to get going.

    Also if anyone has details about if bbpress-wp integration is changing dramatically on WP3 and I am just wasting my time… please let me know.

    Many thanks.

    IMO, trunk is more stable than 1.0.2, except for few small bugs introduced with subscribe to topic and anonymous posting features.

    I agree, it’s better than 1.0.2 right now. There are more unresolved issues in 1.0.2 than there are in 1.1-alpha. What is now 1.1-alpha will be the next release in the 1.0 series, whether it’s called 1.0.3 or 1.1. I’d say it’s pretty safe to use. If you run across bugs, please check trac.bbpress.org to see if they’re already reported, and if not, please start a new ticket.

    is there a a zip file of the 1.1 alpha available? Or is it just available via SVN?

    You can download a zip file of trunk at trac.bbpress.org – just “browser source”, navigate to trunk, then look at the bottom of that page for the download link:

    https://trac.bbpress.org/changeset/2425/trunk?old_path=%2F&format=zip

    If you download that zip file, BackPress is missing.

    thanks for the tip – hadn’t noticed! I’ll remember to upload it when I go live.

    Have managed to transfer the majority of things from fluxbb/punbb forum, just missing a few things which I think I can live without.

    I installed 1.1 Alpha. I get this error while posting:

    Call to undefined function bb_is_login_required() in /forum/bb-post.php on line 4

    that function is actually in functions.bb-template.php which is in the bb-includes sub directory. Have you got that file?

    @dkb

    Yes i got that file, i reverted back, but in my backup i see such a file.

    strange then, because it worked for me no issues.

    I don’t know if it makes any difference, but do you have the wp-includes/backpress directory along with the alpha version?

    @dkb

    Yes i have.

    sorry, I’m at a loss then. The only think I could suggest would be to try downloading the files again in case one of them was incorrect.

    If you have the ability to download via subversion, please do that. It will download the externals for you. I forgot those are not included when you download from trac.

    What is the URL to your forum? Have you tried validating the feed?

    I have solved it now: the BBcode Lite plugin was interferring. Had to deactivate it.
