Export/Import is not working

  • I am trying to export data from one forum and move it to another.

When I hit export, it doesn’t download a file but shows me the document tree. I copy that into a file and add the extension .html.

When I try to import that file in the new forum, I get the error message – “Invalid child element inside meta element.”

Not sure what to do. Please help. Thanks!

.html is incorrect. .xml is what you should be using. Save the file directly from your web browser.

Thank you. I am going to try that. Is it an issue if both the forums have the same username and email for the key_master…?

Hmm… it did the import but it shows all the topic dates as 39 years ago (?)…

Can you check the database and see what date values are stored there?

the date values for the topic start times are all right – for example:

    1 2009-04-27 20:17:21

    1 2009-04-28 06:55:29

    1 2009-04-28 06:57:51

    1 2009-04-28 07:08:44

    1 2009-04-28 07:33:39

    1 2009-04-28 07:35:37

    1 2009-04-28 08:25:03

    1 2009-04-28 09:29:31

    1 2009-04-28 09:41:52

    1 2009-04-28 12:23:21

    1 2009-04-28 13:34:17

Ah are you using an older version or theme? There have been some reports of the 39 year issue here:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/forums-started-39-years-ago

My new forum is the Alpha. And the theme is the one that comes with it by default (kakumei).

The old forum was 0.9.0.4 that I upgraded to the Alpha in order to export.

Any ideas? Thanks so much for your help!

I think part of the problem is that it is not importing the “forum”. It says the first forum has 0 posts. The forum with all the posts has not been imported… just the posts are there, dont know in which forum. Odd.
