I have “Allow guest users without accounts to create topics and replies” unchecked.
Why am I still getting spam forum topics from NON users?

I can’t see any obvious issues.

That may be because I deleted the 2 spam topics that made it onto the site, and deleted the remaining spam topics that were stuck in “pending”…?

There were no users associated with these topics. (None of the users that made the spam topics were located in “users,” and not in “pending users”)

I also had to reactivate the recaptcha in on my login. When I removed recaptcha from my login page, that’s when I got those spam topics again.

There’s some way that bots or people are getting in to make spam topics.

Can you please look further into this? Much appreciated.

    Thanks 🙂

This looks like a site specific issue – if it was general the world would be complaining about this.

Not sure how I can help further

I have the same issue. I unchecked the “Anonymous posting Allow guest users without accounts to create topics and replies”. I still get anon posts from spammers. I get two or more every day.
Is there some other setting I am missing?

are these posts topics or replies or both ?

Both kinds of posts. Topics and Replies.

If you do not have caching software that might be not accepting the change to the settings, then

It could be a theme or plugin issue issue, so you’ll need to test to find out which

    Themes

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

    Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Then come back

Thx. I’ll give those things a try and let you know what I find.
