I am trying to set up a bbpress forum with users registering through the bbpress tweak widget. Works except – how do I ASSIGN a password to users instead of their being assigned a random one? My audience is a retirement center where people are less than computer savvy.

basically you don’t with automatic registration.

If it is a retirement home, so the users don’t need to register by computer remotely, then simply set them up using

dashboard>users>add new and set up all their details including a password, and then either email it manually or just tell/give it to them.
