Hi,

I have a private forum that users can access when they log in. People with participant roles are not able to see posts but they can when the user role is changed to moderator etc.

Is it something I am doing wrong?

is the forum ‘private’ or ‘hidden’ – sounds like it is hidden if only mods can see it.

It is private. After doing some digging it turned out that a cache plugin that was still installed but deactivated was causing the issue.

Its sort of sorted it out in a sense that I have 4 forums and 1 of them can now be viewed by participant users. I’ve no idea what could be causing only one of them to be made viewable and not the other 3.

if it isn’t still a caching issue, it could be a theme or plugin issue

Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

Themes

If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.
