New Vanilla 2 Inspired theme
-
Heya,
I really liked the new Vanilla 2 theme, but after 4 hours or trying to get it to install with NGINX, I moved onto bbpress.
I like the simplicity of bbpress, but was hoping for a snazzier theme. So I ported over the Vanilla 2 theme to bbpress.
I think it’s a nice example of where bbpress can go if it maybe sheds some of the legacy tabular layout.

This is bbpress 1.02

Looks good. In Firefox 3.6, the Remember Me checkbox overlaps the submit button on the homepage sidebar.
That’s amazing! Do you mind sharing that bbPress theme?
I like it a lot. I agree with Kevin, you should share it!
I like it too – I would love it if you could share it; even if it’s just a skeleton that others can work with (as I understand this theme has been mostly customized for CheckFront, though I may be wrong).
Wonderful work.
Thanks guys,
I’ll need to remove some custom stuff in the theme. Will package it up some time this week.
Cheers,
-J
That’s great to hear, J! I can’t wait to check it out! Thanks in advance buddy!
Here ya go lads: http://www.jasonmorehouse.com/bbpress-vanilla-theme
Thanks buddy! I’ll check it out asap!
nice theme
http://i40.tinypic.com/8wfhqx.jpg <– look at this image some css problem i think.
im using firefox 3.
Checkfront, the link isn’t working.
Worked for me. Here’s the direct link:

I see it’s now using Vanilla – not liking bbPress Checkfront?
Yeah we had to switch. The current bbpress is missing needed functionality (read-only only forums, e-mail notifications). The existing plug-ins seem abandoned.
We’ll check back on 1.1. It’s looking good.
wow
this is definitely a very nice theme
I have a few questions:
***on the forum list
it shows categories and subforums and its post count
first remark: my post count on categories is always 0, as they are locked
can they not show the 0, or even better show the sumtotal of all subforums?
second: can I have it to show only categories and their sumtotals
and when i click a category it expands to show the subforums
****Extra Lines
one: just below the bbcrumb, same line as just above
and color in between lightgrey same color as search box
two
on the bottom, just above the footer text
and color below lightgrey same color as search box
***bbcrumb
can bbcrumb, when i click on forum show me a page with all categories listed, instead of front page
just before the bbcrumb on same include a link to home
so it would be like this
home forum/category/subforum/topic/post
***PostView
the tag overview on the right is a simple list, could it be a cloud or multiple columns, it takes up a lot of space if somebody enters in a lot of tags
greatly appreciate any help you can give me
Hi Gideons,
I suggest you talk to the author directly at http://www.jasonmorehouse.com/bbpress-vanilla-theme
when a logged out or guest user goes to the post page
the login box area gets mixed with the yellow post info box
as soon as the suer logs in
that problem is solved and the yellow area just moves down to make room for user info
how can I make the same behavior for a guest user?
again i like the design, clean and simple
Hi Gideons,
Mate, with respect, these aren’t really bbPress issues, it’s an issue with an independant theme given away some 2-3 months ago.
It sounds to me like a basic web design CSS issue, thats outwith teh scope of this board, but if you’re still struggling, please contact the theme author at: http://www.jasonmorehouse.com/bbpress-vanilla-theme
i love this theme but i only got it form here http://hotfile.com/dl%2F41099708%2F7751e0e%2FCF-bb-vanilla_1.0.zip.html?uploadid=41099708&fname=CF-bb-vanilla_1.0.zip.html&hash=7751e0e&lang=chs
and i found no imgs in the
images
dir.So i think i did not get the full pack. Not working?
I was hoping for a copy of this wonderfull theme, but I can’t find it anymore. Was already looking on the internet for it. Could someone help me with it and how is it with the support of this theme?
i like it.. nice! how did u do that?
Since the original source is no longer available
and the theme is GPL I am mirroring it here:
http://bbshowcase.org/themes/cf-vanilla.zip
(Note the original poster’s link is no longer running bbpress)
It is a nice theme quite similar to one of phpdugg’s theme.
hello, i was wondering how do i remove the top header from the actual template? i tried removing the header tag and it went funny…is there anyway i can take it out of the header template file so it just shows the rest of the page as i’m going to be using a css frame at the top for a custom header
okay i fixed the above problem now , i properly looked through the header and made the right adjustments!
i was wondering if anybody had a fix for when somebody searches for threads and it displays the thread in the results, if the name is too long it breaks the layout and makes it look terrible, any solutions?
