Multisite Shared Forum

I cannot seem to find a solid answer on this and was hoping someone could chime in. Is it possible to share a single forum across a multisite network?
My example would be that I have the main site and 3 sub sites. I want one set of forums that each site sees and uses.
site.com
books.site.com
papers.site.com
objects.site.com
