Is there any hooks I can use for listing child forum info?

I have asked this before but want to try again.

In short I want ability to list the child forums for the forum in question in my description as a list.
And it would be nice if it showed number of topics etc in brackets.
Is there a hook that I can intercept to add this additional data rather than manually changing data files?
