Is there a plugin to make my forums registration invite only?

I would like to make my forums registration invite only. So far I have no way of doing that. I can remove “register” from my login page, but the register.php file still needs to work for me to create new users. Is there a plugin to make my forums invite only? That would be awesome if there is.
