Integration with mailing list?

Hi,
Anyone know if there is a way to integrate with a mailing list? Some poeple prefer forums, but many prefer traditional mailing lists (like google groups). I’ve always wanted a solution that combined them both (I’ve seen a couple of attempts on other platforms).
Anyone know of anything?
