I just installed WordPress the latest version on WordPress with plugins BuddyPress and bbpress.

I created a dummy user under the role “Participant” but when I login to it and go to the forums I see no “Create New Topic” button anywhere.

Also I already created a category forum.

I want my users to be able to make their own topics in my categories that I make.

create new is at the bottom of a forum page – not always that obvious

I created a page titled “add new topic” with the content of

[bbp-topic-form]

– the shortcode for creating a topic.

I then use a text widget in the sidebar with the content of

<a href="/add-new-topic/">Create a new topic</a>

the “/add-new-topic/” is the permalink to the page.

If you could help with one more thing.

I made my category with no topics inside it. But when I use the “Create a new topic” button it doesn’t let me post a topic in that category, it’s grayed out.

Never mind found out how to do it.

You have to create a forum then make a category inside of your forum you created.

The form only displays when you’re logged in, so we can’t see what your issue is. Can you post a picture via say phtotbucket, and detail what you feel is wrong
