Help – Multiple Profile Trolls

    1)
I’m helping a friend with his site, and the forum is being ruined by people using multiple profiles and playing them off each other.
Is there a way to compile a list of all members (active and not) including the email addresses they used to register with, and also IP address?
Are there any other ways to crack down on it (other than removing a bunch of people : )

    2)
Also, can we make it so that new members have to have posts approved before being posted – like for a period of time – and than they can post normally?

    Big up,
    Triston

    Thanks Robin.
Why is #1 not a maintained function I wonder?
Isn’t this a fairly widespread problem with forums?
Is it a legal thing? I would assume that as long as the info is only
used to determine who may be using multiple profiles to troll, that it is ok?

Many plugins are not ‘maintained’ as this take time, and if no functionality is being added, the authors can be working on other things, or have just got bored! I think it is a shame.

However many still work fine, and if not there are usually alternatives.

I haven’t tried it, but take a look at

Thanks Robin I’ll pass these along to our tech friend.
And what about the legal question?
Are we good as long as we only use it to weed out multiple profiles
and remove them according to our policy?

I’m not a lawyer, and the law is of course different depending on where the world you are.

Do you – or perhaps someone else here – know
what if this is ok for the US?
