My site is getting lots of users registering but they are all bots and spam. I haven’t even completed the site or told anyone about it so I know it’s not actual legit users.

Any help on how to stop these bogus user signups?

Are you using Akismet? And is everything enabled?

– Make sure the Akismet plugin is activated /wp-admin/plugins.php
– Enter your Akismet API key /wp-admin/admin.php?page=akismet-key-config
– Make sure ‘Use Akismet’ is enabled in ‘Forum Settings’ /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bbpress

Is Askismet a free plugin? I thought you had to buy it. Is there a free option out there?

We suggest you consider AntiSpamBee, it has some advantages over Akismet and is completely free:

I’ve installed AntiSpamBee, but can anyone recommend which boxes I should check off? I’m not sure which one I should check so that I don’t get spam user registrations, so I checked all the boxes. But something must be wrong because now my spam registrations have increased.

Any suggestions on what boxes I should or shouldn’t check?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
