there is following structure:

– category
– forum 1
– forum 2

on level category on the main forum page it says “category” has no threads even though there are some threads and posts in forum 1

Any idea how I can solve this issue??

Have you named the forums?

yes they all have their individual name

Your hierarchy does not seem correct, or you simply have an empty Category for no real reason.

Categories are currently not showing their freshness correctly, and this will be fixed in 2.6.4.
