Forum topics don’t display for my regular users

As the admin, I was able to create a forum, then some topics and one reply. However, once I login under a different user with the role of “participant” or “moderator”, none of the topics display for that forum. I get the following messages on the returned forum screen:

“This forum contains 4 topics and 1 reply, and was last updated by Earl Sneeringer 2 weeks, 3 days ago.

Oh bother! No topics were found here!”

How is it that I see that I have 4 topics and 1 reply but it doesn’t display this or a participant or moderator?

My WP version is: 5.2.2 and my bbpress version is 2.8.1, my site is howardcountypickleball.org. The forum is under the Members menu item which is restricted to joined members.

    I have the same problem
I can set up forums, set up topics, but when I login as a participant, I can start another topic, but it does not display any of the topics that have been started, so no one can participate, not even the person who created the topic!

It could be a theme or plugin issue

    Themes

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

    Plugins

If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Then come back

    see https://www.singbarbershop.co.uk/
I have deactivated all plugins except bb Press and activated twenty nineteen theme.
I can now see a Comment box which I dont think I had before – but I still cant see the topic I am commenting on.

Thanks, but I was on a deadline to get this done, so I have had to use another program.
Simple:Press is easy to set up and provides a very clear control panel – no problems!
