One of the things we would like our forum members to be able to do on our website is access the profile of other users.

For example, if I saw a post from someone in the forum I might want to click on there profile to find out there direct contact details. At the moment, if I click on there name on a forum post it would link to my own profile. Is it possible to link to another member profile with limited details e.g. name, contact email, contact telephone, Hospice name?

clicking on another users profile in the forums should take you to their profile. Is this not the case for your site?

no, the client sent the above. I have just created a test user and logged in and it lets me create posts etc but if i go and click on a user it says sorry you are not logged in.

ok so I now have 2 different things

1. clicking profile goes to the users own profile
2. clicking profile says sorry you are not logged in

Without a consistent problem definition it is hard to help, but as stated above, clicking someone’s name should take the user the that person’s profile.

it could be a theme or plugin issue

Themes

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwenty, and see if this fixes.

Plugins

If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

If you cannot do this to your site (say because it is live) then use the ‘troubleshooting’ features of this plugin to let you test without affecting other users
