Displaying User Location Below Avatar

    Hello,

How can I “grab” a user’s location and then display it below their avatar on any forum posts they create?

I need to know how to 1) get the user’s location, and 2) display it.

Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

Thanks so much Robin! I really appreciate it. I use several of your plugins and they’ve been absolute lifesavers!

I was actually wondering if there was a way to get a User’s location without them entering it…? Like if I could geo locate where they created their profile and then display that on their posts as their location? Are you familiar with a way to do that?

Hey Robin. Thanks again for your help on this!

I’m trying to use your Profile Information plugin but I can’t get the custom fields to appear as editable fields for the user to input text into. I’ve checked all the necessary boxes but still can’t get anything to appear when I go to my User Profile page.

Any thoughts on how I can troubleshoot? I’ve de-activated and re-activated the plugin but still can’t get them to show :/.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

just before we go down that road, is this in user profile or in bbpress profile? the first you get to from dashboard (and is horrible) – the second you get to by clicking any username

Ahh that was my problem! I was in the wp-admin dashboard. Which you’re right…is terrible. I see the fields created by your plugin now in the bbPress dashboard. Thanks so much for your help, Robin!

    Hey Robin,

I know this is a long shot, but do you by chance take any freelance work?

I’m still having trouble with this because I’m using a plugin (Ultimate Member) that redirects every link from the bbPress User Profile over to the Ultimate Member User Profile. I contacted their support and they said there is no workaround for this. They said the only way to access the bbPress User Profile (to edit, view, etc) is to disable the Plugin. They also said that in order to work around this, it’s going to take customization of the bbPress plugin itself. So I need to find a dev that can do that for me.

So do you take freelance jobs?

    Thanks!
