Display a list of forums for groups the user is a member of

I would like to either:
Dynamically create a menu list of group forums that the user is a members of or create a page that only displays the same forums.
It’s for a site that is only going to use group forums, where there will be hundreds of groups but users are only expected to join a much smaller number of groups.
How much work would be involved in delivering something like this? I know I’ve asked for this in a feature request but the need is becoming more urgent.
Any suggestions?
