disable all users to login and to post temporarily

Anybody knows if there’s a way to temporarily disable all users to login and to post?
I want my forum to be accessible for reading only now and then,
and I don t want to change the users role every time, since I have thousands of users with different roles.There should be a simple way to do so, but I don’t know how. Any ideas?
