I don’t know of any off the top of my head.

Have you tried searching for one?

    https://bbpress.org/plugins/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/

I really struggled to get a polls plugin for bbPress that met my needs, so I created my own!
It’s here if anyone wants it:

@peterwsterling I will buy your plugin if instead of showing voters: blah blah it can show the sepcific voters for their votes..like

    Yes > voter: 1 23 34 4 536hgdfdh
No > voters: rr gdfb ghdfhg
    Maybe > gdfsgdfs

Thanks for the suggestion. However, the plugin is very very cheap – just a cup of coffee.

@peterwsterling I understand, I just purchased anyways. Just waiting for file. I wanted to use a poll type of system to kind of act as a “check in”.

Say I made a forum topic as – Will you be here tonight?
    Answer 1: Yes
    Answer 2: No

And have it so everyone can see who chose what..

I’ll try to work it out I guess lol, shouldn’t be too hard right?

Thanks! The system sends out within an hour…

@peterwsterling No problem, thank you. Will do!

I could suggest you sell on some of the popular wordpress plugin sites, as the exposure is much greater..

    Hi @peterwsterling
I’m keen to get your plugin but I am also using WP Polls for blog posts and pages and in fact WP Polls can also embed in bbpress posts (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-polls/installation/) though Polls can only be created by Admins from the backend

WP Polls also uses the short code poll but in a different format
    [poll id="2" type="result"]

But I like the concept of users being able to create their own polls in forum posts so I’d be keen to get your plugin provided it doesn’t conflict with WP Polls. Hope you can confirm.

    Thanks

Hi @peterwsterling I just bought your plugin and will test it out. Hope it works and does not conflict with WP Polls!

Unfortunately, @peterwsterling it does not work when WP Polls is also installed. I hope you can reply. I also sent you feedback via your website.

Hi, thanks for trying out my plugin – I hope you enjoy using it. But sorry yes you are right; any two plugins that use the same shortcode are never going to work together. I trust you can figure out which of the two you want to continue using.

    Regards,
    Pete

Pete I’d really like to use both.
Is it difficult to edit the plugin code and change the short code name?

    @palmdoc

I’d like to thank @peterwsterling for modifying the plugin to allow a custom shortcode setting and make it compatible with WP Polls.
    You’re a genius!

@peterwsterling the Polls plugin generally works well. There is however a “bug”
After creating the poll, if one ever tries to edit the first post in the topic, one will see an error message which says that the poll can only be created for the first post (even if it is the first post).
You’ll lose the shortcode formatting and have to re-create it.

@palmdoc, no if you edit a thread (and/or the poll) all is well, there is no bug. What you are not allowed to do is have a poll at the reply level – polls can only be created at the start of a thread, i.e. topic level. If what you report is occurring it is either a user error or a problem caused by another plugin.

If you have further problems using the plugin please email me directly.

Seems that after the WordPress 4.0 update I can no longer create forum polls. All I get is
Polls only at Topic level please.

    Anyone experience this too?

    Hello @peterwsterling

Is this plug in still being updated? I have updated bbpress and now voting on a poll has no effect.

    @peterwsterling

Yes, the plugin still works fine with the latest version of WP.

Hi @peterwsterling – Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Is it OK to ask a question here?

Is there a character limit to answers?

Please take at look at the test poll I set up here: http://www.walthamforestforum.org/forums/topic/poll-test-4-identical-to-problem/

I can select an option but clicking “vote” has no impact.

The otherwise identical test poll here: http://www.walthamforestforum.org/forums/topic/poll-test-5-please-ignore/ that has cut down answers operates OK.

Make sure you are logged-in ! I was able to click a button, but my vote is not valid and the results are shown.

    That’s really nice one Peter.

Thanks for looking into this Pascal. Unfortunately being logged in does not make any difference.

On the poll with the longer wording, I can select a button, and it goes grey when I press vote, but the number is not registered, and if I refresh, the vote is lost.

On the other poll identical in every way, with the same log in, just shorter wording for the options, behaviour is as I would expect it; and the vote is remembered.

FYI – I have been in contact with Peter through his site, there is a 20 character limit to possible answers.
