Looking for a way to make it so users are automatically subscribed to any topic to which they reply.

Yes, there is a couple ways they can subscribe, but they often forget and have asked if simply posting a reply to a topic could make it like they subscribed automatically. I’ve seen a lot of discussion about auto-subscribing everyone to everything but I don’t want that.
