It could be a theme or plugin issue
Plugins
Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.
Themes
If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.
Then come back
Thanks for your help. I’ve identified the problem but not the solution.
I have a page with my topics on and the slug is ‘discussion.’ This is the page where you cannot create a topic anonymously.
I have also set the Forum Root slug to ‘discussion’so that my breadcrumbs read Home > Discussion > [Topic Title].
If I change the Forum Root slug to something else, ‘forums’ for example, then suddenly on the discussion page you are able to create a topic anonymously, and everything works fine. However, this ruins my breadcrumbs.
Any thoughts as to why this happens? Thank you!
I have a page with my topics on and the slug is ‘discussion.
are you using a shortcode on this page?
Yes! To display the topics. Is that wrong?
It’s like this:
[bbp-topic-index]
[bbp-topic-form]
the slugs must match the contents of any page you set to the same slug.
so the forum root slug should match a page that has [bbp-forum-index]
so the topics slug should match you page with topics in it
Right! Thank you so much.
Okay so that fixes the problem however I still have the breadcrumbs issue.
On my topics page called ‘Discussion’, when you click a topic the breadcrumbs read ‘Home > Forums > [Topic Title]
I haven’t created a ‘forums’ page, I only have the one forum. I’d like the breadcrumbs to read ‘Home > Discussion > [Topic Title] so that users can click ‘discussion’ and return to the main topics page.
Is this possible?
yes, install my style pack plugin
bbp style pack
once activated go to
dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>breadcrumbs
and you can change what the root says and where it goes
I’m having the same issue…
I’ve created a page with the URL ‘forums’ which matches the setting in BBPress.
But the form still doesn’t show on the forums page?
