Does anyone know a good way to allow “contributors” and above, to edit their own custom title?

I would suggest that this meta-key could be a start somewhere.

$custom_title = bb_get_usermeta($user->ID, 'bbpress_title');

Thanks for the direction, could you provide a little bit more insight. Where exactly would that string go?
