404 on Private posts, when signed out

    Hi
    Why if someone tries to access a post, that is Private, when they are signed out do they get a 404 – rather than “this is private, please sign in or create an account”?

    Or do we need to enable this option?

    many sites will not wish you to even know that the topic exists, so throwing a 404 error is the default way.

    You can set where to send private topics using

    bbp style pack

    once activated go to

    dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>Subscription Emails item 2
