I installed the forum on my site per the instructions.I I did not make any special modificatiosn at all.

    URL is http://www.protecthonor.com

A forum link appears on the left in the second menue row. Whe anyone selects it they receive a 404 error.

I also installed bbP Private groups as I only want people who are knows to our group to participate. I set the Formum to a private group as per the instructions.

I still get the 404 error.

In seeting the URL for the Forum is: https://www.protecthonor.com/forums/forum/preservation/
It also sends a 404 error.

dashboard>settings>permalinks and just click save – this resets the permalinks and may help

Thanks Robin. Tried what you recommended and still ahve the same problem. I am running WordPress 6.0.2 if that matters.
I installed per the directions and added it to the menu in my wordpress site as it did not appear that I needed to create a seperate page for it. What is strange is that if I log into my wordpress site, go to “Dashboard” then go to Visit Website” and click on “Forum” (as above) it comes up! It just does not work if anyone (including me) tries it from just a web browser, either chrome or Microsoft.

Hope someone can help with this. It’s frustrating 🙂

it could be a theme or plugin issue

    Themes

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwenty, and see if this fixes.

    Plugins

If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

If you cannot do this to your site (say because it is live) then use the ‘troubleshooting’ features of this plugin to let you test without affecting other users

    Health Check & Troubleshooting

    Then come back
