The answer I found was with this plugin.
I just wish in the BBPress forum an support it showed you how.
We had a charity that paniced, as it is for members only. And while BBPress allows you to make the forum private, it doesn’t do it by default to check a box to do the same to Replies and Users. That scared them.Thankfully this plugin does it. But why you can make the forum Privae, and not users and Replies, within the BBPress itself, is worrying.
One “expects” it to kind of be like that. This isn’t just me. When I googled this type of question, a heck of a lot came up, from Functions to HTACCESS coding. Many asking how it can be happening in the first place.
Anyhow, for any you do have that question, I hope this thread helps to answer it. A) how to do it with a free extra plugin, and B), the fact that buy default:
Users info, and Replies, are not possible to set to private.
Cheers all.
“bbpress by default does block private replies”.
How does it block replies and access to Users by default?
Ignoring “private” replies. If the Forum is Private, how do you block access to user’s details and their replies, by default?Talk me through that. Without plugins please.
It is baffling.
The fact that by default, users and their REPLIES are not locked out.
Forums are. But if you are a user, and you merely REPLY to a forum post, that REPLY is NOT locked out, nor is that user. How can that be right?!?!
Surely there is a basic default way to block emable/disable those areas, via the plugin. Not needing to download another plugin just to do that. It’s a bit like having to buy an addon for your Facebook account, so you can block people from accessing your details, unless they sign in.
I did find a plugin that can do it – but shame on BBPress for not just doing such Privacy things, by default. We never installed anything as we assumed it would just be sensible.
It’s as I think we are using a Memberships plugin for it.
But I couldn’t see how to do this via BBPress properly.
I thought it would give me the shortcodes to add to a page, or a guide on how to do it.Simon
In reply to: How do you add the list of Categories to a page?I need help. It loads it, but it breaks the website. It seems to add code in the #main DIV of the site, causing it to lose all the full width element so the page on which I place it.
In reply to: How do you add the list of Categories to a page? It’s applying “Boxed” as a class to the #main ID of the Container of the website homepage. The theme has a “Boxed” format, which puts spacing around it all, but we are not using that format.
It only does it when I apply that shortcode right at the bottom of the homepage though.
Iv’e no idea why
In reply to: How do you add the list of Categories to a page?I can PM you if that is ok, as the site is “coming soon”.
In reply to: How do you add the list of Categories to a page? When I do that, it takes over the CSS of the page, so where we have full width in the top of the site, when I paste this in: [bbp-forum-index] , it causes ALL the full width to go “boxed”.
Even if I set the element such as a Full Width Row, it still boxes it all.
