I just added a “Register” link in the login widget and a page for registering/lost pass but I didn’t realize this is an issue.
Some plugin like this one might work but it is just the first I looked at and didn’t try it yet. You are right though, some non-trivial amount of people will never come back because they can’t remember the password they use everywhere.

I’m lost on this too. I’m using Roots theme framework and didn’t import bbPress into my theme. Your toolbar shows up “bbp-template-notice” and the (way too big) avatar, but I would like to move the down to above the Reply text area.
I kind of get how WP template tags work now but actually navigating all these PHP files is difficult.
That’s what I was wondering.. if any plugins would work with 2.0
I guess I will give a few a try if it is a functionality that is really lacking.
