After losing some hair I finally figured it out here is the format to show just topics if any other poor sap is trying to figure it out:
http://www.yourwebsite.com/forums/rss/topics/?forum=(number)
Remove the (number part and put in your forum number like this:
http://www.yourwebsite.com/forums/rss/topics/?forum=2

Approve User Registration
bbCaptcha
Akismet
Human Test for bbPress
We have had minimum issues at our bbpress forums
