The next step forward? If bbpress could add/delete and edit existing forum roles without the need for a third-party plugin.

I’m also trying to get my head round the new roles… Why do visitors and participants have the same capabilities?
Spectators: can read public forums and posts, but not post.
Visitors: can post on public forums…
Surely, participants should be able to read and post on private forums?
Moderators: apart from editing others posts, they can view hidden forums?
Keymaster: full control
