Time Sensitive – Subscribers Unable to Reply to Topics

Subscriber level users are unable to reply to newly created topics. They can’t see the rely button an don’t see the text box to enter their reply. bbPress is behind a membership site, and the forums are set to closed and the topics are set to open. I’ve exhausted troubleshooting with ChatGPT. Please help as we have a class starting Monday. I emailed everyone to reply to a topic and they are unable to do so.

I tested as an admin and can see the reply button and text entry box.
Signed in as a student (subscriber) those items are not visible.

Also, this only applies to topics created in recently created forums. Forums and Topics created months ago are still working properly with students/subscribers able to reply.

forums are set to closed ?

if so, then that is what I would expect

Yes, forums are set to closed as students cannot create new topics, only staff. But Topics are set to Open, and up until now, this configuration worked for students being able to post a reply to topics but not create new topics.

ok, I cannot say why it has worked before – every site is a unique collection of theme, plugins and settings.

but yes if you close a forum, it closes it to new topics and replies

Oh my goodness, Robin. Yep, opening the closed forums solved the issue. We have the post new topic button hidden because I think we came across this before. Thank you so much for your response. Hope you have a nice weekend and that you had a great holiday!
