Split forum topic – secondary_item_id db row not updated

When splitting a forum topic the secondary_item_id value is not updated. I’m not sure if this is the issue > the item_id value is updated with the new id, but the URL will not display the correct new topic name and URL unless the secondary_item_id is correct. When I manually change the secondary_item_id value in my db to the correct new id the topic name and URL display and link correctly in the Activity Stream to the new split topic.

secondary_item_id is a buddypress database item, so looks like a hook might be needed.

Can I ask you to log the issue with the buddypress support to see if they already know this.

If they can’t help, then come back and I’ll try to take a look for you

I did a search on the BuddyPress site, but did not find any other forum topics. So I posted this new forum topic > https://buddypress.org/support/topic/split-forum-topic-secondary_item_id-db-row-not-updated/.

Overall it’s not a big deal since I rarely split forum topics and manually editing the DB only takes a minute to do. 😉

The BuddyPress plugin doesn’t integrate with bbPress.

It’s the other way around. The issue is with the BuddyPress integration built into bbPress.

You should create an issue at https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/

Not a big deal to me at all. I’m perfectly fine with doing an occasional manual DB edit. Just thought I would mention it.

You should definitely post a ticket about this because other people are probably experiencing the same problem and you shouldn’t have to manually edit the DB for a legitimate issue.

I’ll create the ticket in the next week or so if you don’t beat me to it! 🙂
