Reset of Forum Posts Count

We just started a site and the number of posts is over 300 but in reality only like 5 or 10.
Does it seed that number starting at 300?
Is it possible to reset it back to 0 or to some other number?

I was told to post on these forums.

that section does not look like bbpress showing it.

I would need to see it on the real site to guess what it is showing
