Importing from phpBB using 2.6.0

    @ajtruckle

I was not able to use the previous phpBB importer as it was failing right at the start. This new version seems to work better! However, I have some comments about this.

    1/ A possible problem.

Here is my log (which I paused in the end):

    2/ Feature Request

Because I was not able to previously import content I came up with a new simplified set of forum categories etc in my bbPress forum. Therefore, ideally I would love to be presented with a list of forums that are going to be imported so that I can map them to the existing forums I have created. So some would be merging several into one if that makes sense.

At the moment (even though I hit stop on point 9) I was able to view the forum and could seem many boards imported – a quick look it looked great. It is just that I wanted control over how the topics were imported. Thus my idea for the mapping from old forums to current forums.

    Can this be done?

Please let me know if I need to give more info.

I don’t know if this should be a “trac ticket” or not.

    Well done guys.

    Andrew

I just tried a second time on my staging area and it had the same issue for number 9 on the steps. I don’t know how many more steps there are in the import process?

This time I checked a bit more on the topics imported and it seemed abit odd. For example, say that the topic list indicated that a topic had 5 comments. When I click the topic in many cases it has one.

But I know it is complicated to put many issues in one bbPress topic so I won’t digress. I await your direction re importing at stage 9.

    My phpBB database is 3.2.7

I was trying to look at your source code for the phpBB importer but I can’t quite follow the logic.

    Hi,
I created this plugin that works with v2.5 in a single site environment. I did not test it yet with v2.6! But if it can give ideas, I just leave it here:

Thanks for this Pascal. At the moment I can’t do anything because I have that stickies loop issue and the final imported topics don’t seem right. The primary list of topics is fine but then all the replies are not there. I can compare the existing phpBB forum against the results to know.

I will wait for a reply about the recurring loop issue first.

Looks like we’re in the same boat as each other, @ajtruckle.

    Figured it out myself.

If anybody else is wondering how to do this, you need to make sure that no Founder, Admin or Moderator has replies or threads attributed to them.

I got around this by creating a new admin/founder account and downgrading all of the staff to standard accounts so that they could be imported.

Did he solve this problem? I stayed in the next cycle. constantly repeating itself.

    I’m importing it from mybb.

Hi Heroyouwi, I hope you are happy to answer this. I have tried your phpbb 3.2.9 fix bbpress import script and sadly it failed. I am using phpBB 331 and the latest bbPress. What is the likely issue?
    Many thanks.

Maybe the ‘phpbb 3.2.9 fix bbpress import’ is broken? I get 404…

I have some issue about phpBB 3.3.1 import, everything is okay, except the users, the users and password not imported… :/
