BBPress Notifications based on ForumId and Member Role

Hey I am using BBPress, BBPress Notifications (No Spam), and User Role Editor.
I want to make it so that when a new topic is posted in a certain forum, only certain members get a notification based on where it was posted.

I have tried to hack this together but have been unable to get conclusive results, so any tips or help will be much appreciated.

I am using the private groups plugin for this. The plugin lets you restrict certain topics to the members of a group. If you want your topic available for all forum users to see, but you only want certain users to be notified, then the private groups plugin will likely not work. Thanks for the info!

Unfortunately I want all users to be able to see the forum.
As of now I have user groups set up that correspond with certain topics post-Id’s.

When I use the $post->post_parent; or the $post->$post_Id; commands and compare it against a list of the current topics post Id’s it will never match with one of them.
