Notification Email Link problems

    Hi,

When I receive an email notification, if I’m logged in and I click the link it takes me directly to the thread/post in question.

However if I’m not logged in I simply get:

Sorry, the page your requested could not be found, or no longer exists.

Running WordPress 4.1 and bbpress 2.5.4

I have tested with the bundled themes and the issue persists.

Nobody at all? I was hoping someone might have a slight clue as to where to look.

If nobody has a clue, can anyone point me in the right direction perhaps?

sorry most mods look for topics with no replies as ‘new’ so by bumping after less than a day you fell through the system.

support on here is free, but run by volunteers.

Can you tell me what the link in the email is?

It’s simply a link to the thread/post on the forum.

    http://www.morayfoodnetwork.org.uk/forums/topic/testing-notifications/

If you click it, you’ll see the error; however if you were logged in it would take you direct to the thread/post. I’m assuming it should show a more meaningful error and a login prompt?

To be honest, the thread title is probably a little incorrect however I didn’t know how else to identify the issue.

No problem, I fully understand your issue.

This is working as designed, the idea being that a private forum should not indicate that a subject exists.

Therefore it takes you to your theme’s 404.php page.

You could modify this page to include a login offer, but after login this would only take them to the home or forums page, not to the link, but that might be better than just a 404.

If you want to go that route, contact me via my website
