bbPress 2.3 Default role not assigned

Ever since I have upgraded to 2.3, new users are not assigned the default forum role.

WP Version: 3.5.1 (Multisite)
bbPress Version: 2.3

Do you have auto role set in the bbPress settings?

My guess is no; or that the default option value changed in 2.3 (I don’t recall) and there is no option in the DB.
