First post not showing

    Hi there !

I’m having a curious behavior with bbpress.
    I’ve setup everything, works fine.
I just can’t see the first message of each post.

    Then once inside :
    enter image description here

When I’m logged as an admin, I can see the first message.
    Any thoughts ?

    Thanks for any hint 🙂

That is very weird, but is likely an issue with your theme.

If you temporarily switch you theme to TwentyEleven, does that fix the problem?

I also have a user experiencing this issue (where they can’t see the first post in a thread) on our BuddyPress + bbPress site. We are using the default bbP-theme within DynamiX WP/BP theme. I will attempt to change our theme and report back if that fixes it.

Any other ideas what might be causing this? Anyone else experiencing this issue?

@john13 – Did you ever reach a satisfactory solution? I’m having exactly the same problem (although with a premium theme).

I’ve just done a bit of additional testing on my site (experiencing the same issue but only for one user AFAIK)

It seems the first post is not showing up in the HTML at all!

I don’t think it’s a theme issue since this is only happening for one user (again, AFAIK) and not all users.

Would really love some input from the bbP team on this one!

Bumping since this is still an issue on my site… Any inklings about where to debug this would be welcome!

Having the same issue. Admins can see first posts by users. Normal users cannot…

I am using the plugin bundled with commonsinabox 1.0

Got a couple more people reporting this issue on my site.

They are marked as role “Subscriber” but it doesn’t seem to be all members with that role.

    Thoughts?

Are you running any caching plugins?

    @mralexweber

    @lynq, thanks for the reply.

On my site we are running W3 Total Cache…

I don’t think that would explain the persistent inability to view first posts for only some users, though!

    Thanks again!

    More testing!

I’ve tested clearing W3TC and that seemed to have no effect.

Upgraded WP and bbP and that doesn’t seem to have any effect either.

One additional weird thing — when I moved the affected user to the “Participant” role for the forum, they couldn’t see ANYTHING. This seems like a separate issue, but felt I should mention it here. When they were set as forum role “Spectator”, the forum/topics displayed as usual (still missing the first post)

Hey just to let you know.

I had a couple of issues with CloudFlare + W3 cache – I had to do an exclude on cloudflare to get the forum working perfectly, not sure why though…

    I’m still having this issue.

I got another site with bbpress and it works just fine.

I think it’s something in the user access right setup…

Was there ever a definitive solution(s) to this problem?

I am having the same issue..
\What is the solution for this pls?

The issue on my site had to do with a setting in WishList Member. For me I had to go to WishList Member >> Settings >> Protection Defaults and then set the “Only show content for each membership level:” and set to “No”.

After I did that it worked.

I had this issue. I am using WPMU’s membership plugin. I was using membership plugin negative rules to block some stuff, but if I removed *all* the rules from the appropriate access level then I could see the first post again.

Just to clarify, when I said “*all* the rules” I meant all the ones in the ‘BuddyPress Pages’ block. Unfortunately it means I have to let all the users see all members, which I was trying to avoid.
