non-whitelisted HTML trapping

Is there any plugin, or a function that could be added to “functions.php”, that could more gracefully trap invalid HTML in a post?

Right now, invalid HTML get’s converted to plain text – I think it would be better to have it reject the post with a message “Please remove Invalid HTML and try again” or the like.

Red highlighting of the offending text would be a plus.

Nothing yet that I’ve heard of or seen. It wouldn’t be too difficult to write, though some kses logic in formatting.php would need to be extracted out and used to provide a pass/fail instead of a preg_replace().
