Locking forum and hiding from websearches

  • Could anyone tell me if it is possible to lock my bbpress forum so that there is one central login page. I want to reserve my site for members only.

    Furthermore, is it possible to hide my site from webserches?

    Thanks in advance

    To turn the whole forum private: https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/swirl-unknowns/

    To hide single forums: https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/zaerl-visibility/

    P.S: why on earth do you want your site to be invisible to websearches? Are you planning something evil?? ;)

    Thanks for the input, I’m going to give them a try asap.

    My reason for hidden content is because I’m planning a members only elearning site. Nothing dodgy.

    Many thanks

    Do I set the new swirl page in the swirl-unknowns.php page?

    If so, where do I change the page?

    Sorry, all is working now.

    I’ll let you know how it goes.

    Thanks

    Thanks Mr Pelle, I’m using swirl on a local server at the moment and it is working very well.

    I would like to integrate it without the use of the plugin. Could you help me to do that please?

    Thanks in advance

    Add that to your functions.php. If you do not have one, create it in your active template directory and just wrap the code above into a pair of PHP tags.

    Once again, thank you Mr Pelle. That worked fine. I will have to try zaerl-visibility when I get my production online for testing.

    Thanks for all your very useful input

    If you use my plugin hide the forums against the “inactive” rule. Guests have that rule.

    Hello zaerl

    Thank you for responding. At the moment I am unable to test your plugin. However, I think I may be able to test it in a few days.

    Could you provide me with code so I could code it directly without using a plugin? I would prefer to use coding myself if possible to give me a better understanding of what I am doing.

    Many thanks

    @zaerl

    You want to directly embed my code in your bbPress? I don’t think that it’s a wise choice. Anyway my plugin is GPL so you can do whatever you want with the code. Grab it and copy the code where you want.

    Keep in mind that my plugin can’t be used to hide the entire forum (it’s a design choice). I think that swirl is the best choice.

    will your plugin hide topics, tags, titles and posts from google etc?

    @zaerl

    My plugin hide forums/topics/profiles/tags.
