Installing bbPress after uninstall BuddyPress
-
- Posted 1 year ago #
I have a problem with bbPress installation.
I first installed WordPress 3.0, BuddyPress and forums that come with BuddyPress.
After, disable the plugin BuddyPress and all other plugins associated with it. I will not use BuddyPress.
Upload bbPress to a new folder: http://www.mydomain.com/bbPress
With de browser go to http://www.mydomain.com/bbpress
But do not start the installation of bbPress if that appears directly in the form to register as a user of the forums.
When I try to login and then sends me to an old path BuddyPress:
http://www.mydomain.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-login.phpHow I can do to install a clean bbPress without interfering with BuddyPress?

Try removing your .htaccess file and then regenerating it by setting permalinks settings.

I have exactly the same problem. My .htaccess file contained almost nothing, nevertheless I regenereated it without any changes.
Any other ideas? Is something still written in the WP DB tabels?

You would have to remove BuddyPress related stuff from DB then.

If you delete all 'wp_bp' tables, the forum installs. But it states that the forum is created in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/ (should be: domain.com/forum/ in my case)
I don't have buddypress nor bbpress in my plugin directory any more. I guess I should remove more from the DB to make this work, any ideas?

Ok, I did some searches in the WP DB and removed some more referrences to buddypress (just search for 'buddy' or 'wp-bp').
Alex, this probably works for you too, as you did exactly what I did. Asfame, thanks for thinking along.

I managed to install manually configuring forum bb-config.php file and uploading to the bbPress folder. The bbPress database is different from WordPress.
