I'm thinking... could this be due to the fact I did import all my forums from a previous 1.x standalone installation to a 2.x installation?

The import was fine, I got all my users, topics and replies back. As well as forums. However, there might have been something there, that doesn't allow me now to set the forum order? Eventually could I force it by looking into the database?

any hint?

Done that too, anyway there's nothing else being loaded on forums besides forums, as I said I haven't touched yet the template files, just copypasted into my theme. Other than the forums themselves, in the forum pages, there are being loaded just wordpress menus. As I said it looks like they are ordered in the frontend based on their ID not on the page order. Which is the function listing all the forums in the template files? Can I try perhaps forcing the order or if I know which is the function responsible for that perhaps I can throw some PHP to reorder them manually - in this case may I know how it is stored the ordering variable?

Hello!
We have a site with bbpress plugin and a lot of functionalities, and the moderators/admin manage all them from admin panel because is easier to centralize everything in the admin.

When we have a new topic, usually we want to reply at the same time (we use bbpressmoderation). Now we have to read it in admin topics an then go to the reply admin, create a reply and choose the topic in the dropdown, but we have a lot of topics and this is hard to manage.

The other option we have is go to the frontend and reply there, but we lose a lot of options to embed, formmating, etc.

It would be nice to have a reply link in the edit topic panel that directly create a reply to this topic without having to go to the reply panel and select the topic from the long list of topics.

I think (but i'm not an expert) it could be easy to do but i'm lost in how to do it.

There is planned any similar funcionality in bbpress plugin?
or can someone guide me how to do this?

Thanks

Any other updates on how you can moderate posts prior to them getting published? I think this is one of the "MOST" basic function that one expects from a good forum software. I am surprised that such a basic function is missing from this software including some very basic profile features.

I think it is important that the developers/owners of bbpress write/disclose this (lack of features) clearly on the homepage of the site so everyone will know what they are going to deal with once they install the software. Would save someone who absolutely requires these basic features a lot of time.

I spent quite a few days installing and configuring the software only to find out later that such simple features are missing and there is no way to install them except by hiring a high end developer and spending loads of money.

The software in its current form is great for running an internal/private/inhouse forum but not a public forum.

I'm thinking using the certified compatible theme of TwentyTen would be the wisest choice. My dilemma is not knowing how to customize it to "pretty" it up more. Knowing that full integration is the intended use of bbPress makes me even more motivated to figure out how to do it. Starting with a fresh WP install and building it from the ground up is not too out of the question for me at this point. I would much rather spend a few hours redoing the site than having to login to an entirely different sites for the next few years! Thanks so much for diligent responses. I will let you know how it goes. I may reach out to the theme developer and see if this is something that is a common error for them. If it is, then TwentyTen it is and some learning and elbow grease customizing it!

I know this isn't your fault but this is frustrating. I'm trying the new theme and giving it another go. I have installed the plugin, created some forums and topics. As soon as I login it shoots me out to the site's homepage. As soon as I navigate back to the forum it auto logs me out!?! At this point, I'm wondering if I should start the site from scratch and install 1 thing at a time to see what seems to be the problem. This is where code geniuses get paid for helping idiots like me! :D What do you think? I will put more time into the TwentyTen theme. I really like everything we have done already with the current theme which would suck if I lost it all.

Full integration is completely possible and is ideal, but depending on your theme it may require some tweaks and elbow grease.

But to answer your question, yes you should be able to activate it on your main site.

I'm honestly not sure why that came out. I was previously using a theme I paid for but was not compatible with bbPress. I switched to this new one (Graphene) which is supposed to be compatible. I wonder if it was something that happened during the switch.

So to make sure I'm not chasing an unattainable goal, I should be able to build this forum through my existing site (say on a page) and be able to handle moderation, replies, etc. through the WP dashboard I'm already logged into? Or is best to create the forum on different domain? My wish would be full integration with the site.

I'm not sure if that would cause the problem, but that's still something you should be fixed.

You need to set the permissions on your .htaccess file so WordPress can modify it.

Should be able to do that through your FTP client.
