Hi guys,

I have done my research and I have been able to remove the side bar from (what I think is) the top level of the forums by editing the archive-forum.php file.

When I select a forum (I currently only have one) and a topic in the forum (again, I only have one) I still see my theme’s sidebar. I decided to modify the archive-topic.php file and comment out the
get_sidebar();
line (as I did above), but unlike above, this did not work.

I commented out the
get_sidebar();
line for every file in the plugins/bbpress/templates/default/extras folder. This did not work for me.

My question is: how do I remove my theme’s sidebar from the list of forums, topics and inside the topics too?

Hello,
I just installed bbPress and am developing locally but when I create a new Topic from the front-end I get the following error:
ERROR: Are you sure you wanted to do that?
I’m not trying to do anything fancy (no sticky, no tags, no email subscription) and I checked using Twenty Eleven and had the same problem. I also updated the permalinks.

WordPress 3.5.1.
bbPress 2.3.2

I’d be most grateful if someone could shed some light on this.

Hi, I’ve set-up bbpress and buddy press (latest version) and initially enabled group forums. I’m now trying to disable group forums. Op the fronted site I can change the group settings and disable the group’s forum. In buddypress settings I can uncheck “Allow BuddyPress Groups to have their own forums”.

However, whatever I disable and uncheck, even if I switch off the entire bbPress plugin, when I open a Group, it still tries to reach the Group’s forum. For example: groups/mountainbike/forum and there you see that the page doesn’t exist.

So, disabling seems to work. But how do I change the settings so that upon clicking the group link, I start on the Group’s activity page? Even if I open a new group without a forum, the group link still tries to open a group forum.

I’m sure it’s a small thing, but can’t find it. Hope someone could reach out. Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to create separate forums? One would be people that are preselected to participate in a particular discussion (members). The other would be public and open to anyone who wants to be part of a discussion (nonmembers or members). For the open discussion, is it essential that everyone needs to register?

From the blog post:

Also in bbPress 2.3.1, we’ve disabled the use of WordPress’s visual editor (aka TinyMCE.) The HTML editor is still available, and works extremely well. If you want to enable the visual editor again, we’ve added a code snippet to the codex that will turn it back on for you.

I posted the text below a couple of days ago. Since then, I have tried a different theme, tried installing the bbPress 2010 theme and even a couple mods to the page.php file I read about. Nothing’s working. Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks.
“I downloaded and installed bbPress. Put together a forum with three topics, added it to an existing page on my WordPress driven site and all was great! Half a dozen people registered, a couple of discussions began…it worked great. Now, all of a sudden with no warning, the forum is gone. If you click the page to view it, you see the path for the forum at the top, but nothing else: no topics, no area to add a topic or comment, nada. I’ve tried everything I can think of short of deleting the forum and starting over from scratch. Any thoughts? P.S. I can still see the forum and all topics/posts from the dashboard. I’m using wordpress 3.5.1 and bbPress 2.3.2. My site is henderson.lpnc.org.
Thanks for any help or advice!”

I recently installed bbpress on my site (great plug-in, by the way). I’m currently working out the kinks.

One of my biggest problems is that the search function doesn’t work. See http://www.churchofficehelpdesk.com/test where I’m using the shortcode. I’ve used words that I know are on the site. Not only do they not show up, but “sorry, no results were found appears multiple times on the results page.”

Thanks for any help!

I have a multi-site installation of WordPress. I have created a local bbpress stylesheet in my theme that I want to load ONLY if the site administrator has activated the bbpress plugin. I am unclear on the conditional statement (e.g., “if(function_exists..”) to accomplish this as I do with other plugins that are optional. I have tried the following in my functions.php file but it throws an error. Please advise:

<?php
//Load the bbpress styles if bbpress is installed //
if (class_exists( 'bbPress' ) ) {
?>
<link rel="stylesheet" id="bbpress_style" href="<?php echo get_stylesheet_directory_uri(); ?>/bbpress.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />
<? } ?>

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

I’m looking for a widget or a php funcion for listing
latest replies
including
latest topics
width its topic text.

Because of limited space I don’t want two separate listings for recent created topics and then recent replies. For me the topic text is also some kind of reply to the topic title.
