  1. Hi Bobrik. I'm currently confused by the anonymous user ID field. I don't know what I should put here. I have tried entering an existing user ID and also a completely random one, and always get the following message:

"User id for posts on forum from unregistered users in WordPress"

This is preventing me from activating the plugin:

"Enable plugin: Not allowed: [bbPress part] Invalid anonymous user id"

Could you provide some support? :)

  2. i think you writing incorrect _integer_ number. for example, admin gets '1'.
    what value do you use?

  3. and please feedback about your results. i'll be happy if you make donation or at least rate plugin here and on wordpress site
    be nice :)

  4. I used 1 for admin
Then I set up a new user - ID 3
    And then I used a random number - 68965896

    None of these worked.

I am having an issue with the Secret Key field of the sync I am on the latest version of both wordpress and bbpress and have the same keys in both but I keep getting the "Error! Not equal secret keys in WordPress and bbPress" what am I doing wrong, I love the plugin I just want it to work.

I am also getting (Not allowed: [bbPress part] Cannot establish connection to WordPress part)

    Posted: 2 years ago #
  7. Just upgraded to the latest version of both (0.76) and I get

URL is incorrect or connection error, please verify it (full variant): http://www.ben.geek.nz/forum/my-plugins/wordpress-bbpress-syncronization/bbwp-sync.php

If I hit that link, it all looks fine. What's going on?

  8. TahoeKid, check urls.

    ben, is everything ok now?

  9. I have been trying to get the plugin to run on my local windows machine, but it doesn't work at all. When activating the plugin, I can't enable the bbpress side. It constantly says that the bbpress part hasn't been activated, when in fact, it has. I checked and the error and it appears to be coming from the following code on lines 731 and 732 of the bbpress bbwp-sync.php:
    ' if (strpos($active_plugins, bb_plugin_basename(__FILE__)) === false)
return 5; // bbpress part not activated
    '

The slashes used in $active_plugins and bb_plugin_basename(__FILE__) are different (one uses '/' and one uses '\'), but the content is the same. If I comment this out and make the error reutrn 0, I am able to activate the plugin just fine, but then nothing syncs ever. I can't find what other could I would have to change to get this to work.

My question is thus are there other places in the plugin that are affected by running it on my local machine. How can I get this work? I do all my testing on my local windows machine before uploading stuff to my server.

    Thanks,
    Andy

my bbPress url "in the wordpress plugin" says everything is ok. the secret key I am trying to put in is the same in both wordpress and bbpress config files

    Posted: 2 years ago #
  11. andrew, I'll fix paths it in the next release. What do you mean when you say that nothing syncs? Check creating topic on post publishing and publish post. What web server do you use?

btw, it's better not to use windows at least at servers

TahoeKid, I don't uderstand you. Still have a problem or not?

  12. has syncronization been checked for compatibility between wordpress 2.8.3 and bbpress 1.0.3 yet ?
I am trying with these versions but cant get it to work at present, all the strings in the 2 config pages seem to match unless its a hard to spot trailing space or other invisible character problem

BTW you have a spelling mistake in the warning message
"Syncrinization with WordPress is not enabled. You must check options and enable plugin to make it working. "
should be Synchronization or Synchronisation - both the S and Z spellings are valid/interchangeable in UK-English, also work would be the correct usage. Either to make it work or get it working

  13. bobrik....I mean that nothing gets synced. If I post a comment via wordpress, it doesn't show up in bbpress. If I post a reply in bbrpress, it doesn't show up in wordpress. It is as though the plugin hasn't been installed (but it is, and enabled on both sides)

I don't use windows for my main site, but often test on my local machine before uploading to my site. Every other part of wordpress works fine on my local windows machine, as well as every other plugin that I have. It would be nice if this one worked too, as it is PERFECT for me

  14. sa05admin, I've fixed incorrect spelling, thanks :) Try to set simple secret key like "11" or "a". It works for me in bbPress 1.0.3 & WordPress 2.8.3

andrew, try to use that file for bbPress (rename it), http://bobrik.name/uploads/temp/bbwp-sync.php.txt

  15. OOPS! I actually meant bbPress 1.0.2 (my own simple typo + current latest release of WordPress+the one I'm using is 2.8.3)

was solved by changing protection on my-plugins folder to 755, your instructions about plugin permissions are just a little vague. They should be a little more explicit in that it is the my-plugins folder that needs to have its protection changed. BTW the wording there should be least . The word lease has a different meaning i.e having a lease, lease-rental or lease-purchase agreement on e.g. a car, as opposed to buying it outright.

Isn't the English language wonderful in having the most irregularities, most idiomatic usage, words having many multiple meanings, synonyms, antonyms etc, etc, and then there is US-English, Canadian-English, Australian-English, New Zealand-English, South African-English all having their own overlapping and clashing subsets of vocabulary. Making it hard to learn as a second language and leading to many of its first language users being ignorant as to some of its less familiar meanings and usage. :D

Main Question: should a topic started in bbPress in the forum used for synchronisation be synched to wordpress ?

I do still have a problem, sorry for not clarifying. in the wordpress plugin it says my bbpress url is ok but I cannot get the secret key to work thus I cannot enable the plugin. My keys are exactly the same so I am kind of stumped as to why part of the plugin seems to think everything is ok and the key part does not work. I keep seeing this message "Error! Not equal secret keys in WordPress and bbPress" but my keys are the same.

This at the bottom of the wordpress plugin although I can go to my-plugins and see that the bbpress plugin is working
Enable plugin (Not allowed: [bbPress part] Cannot establish connection to WordPress part)

Message from my bb-press plugin url
If you see that, plugin must connect well. WordPress test response (must be a:1:{s:4:"test";i:1;}):

  17. sa05admin, thanks for permissions and spelling hints :) «at least» is just a typo, I swear. English is my 3rd language, it's not too hard, but I had not very good lessons at school. My school egnlish and teachers completely suck. I don't even want to talk about quality of my univercity English lessons. But I like English. I bought «The Catcher in the Rye» and trying to read it (seems hard after tons of tech information in English).

bbPress topic => WordPress post is probably the one thing that my plugin does not supports. I don't see why that can be needed :)

TahoeKid, huh. I don't like your bbPress part test message. There's no «a:1:{s:4:"test";i:1;}» coming after «:». Seems that you have issue with connection. Give me your url to check both parts and give you an answer

    Hi Bobrik,
I have a problem with your plugin:

URL is incorrect or connection error, please verify it (full variant): http://www.il-riscatto-dei-maledetti.com/forum/my-plugins/wordpress-bbpress-syncronization/bbwp-sync.php
    bbpress page plugin ...
    test link: If you see that, plugin must connect well. WordPress test response (must be a:1:{s:4:"test";i:1;}): a:1:{s:4:"test";i:1;}

URL is incorrect or connection error, please verify it (full variant): http://www.il-riscatto-dei-maledetti.com/?wpbb-listener
    testlink: If you see that, plugin must connect well. bbPress test response (must be a:1:{s:4:"test";i:1;}): a:1:{s:4:"test";i:1;}

    Can you help me?
