The "Thanks" plugin allows logged in users to add a vote of thanks for posts in the forum, and report how many "thank you" votes posts have received. All text is fully configurable via an admin page (so users can "like" a given post, or the plugin could report the post has "15 sparkling vampires" if you really want it to) and has the ability to fully uninstall its data from the database at the click of a button.

Votes are cast using AJAX, and a given user's vote only counts once for any given post, no matter how many times they click the "vote" link!

This looks great! Have you tested it on bbPress v0.9.06?

  3. @citizenkeith - no, I havent tested it on anything less than the 1.0.2 version. Having said that I've no reason to believe that it wouldnt work. If you are running the older version and can spin the plugin through it's paces I'll update the "requires version" accordingly.

I get this error in v0.9.0.6:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_register_script() in /path/to/server/my-plugins/thanks/thanks.php on line 24

Note that I'm not listing my actual server path in this error.

  5. @citizenkeith - thanks for testing the compatibility (or rather, lack thereof) with the v0.9.0.6 branch. The internals of bbPress seem to have changed a LOT between 0.9 and 1.0 - something I'd prefer not to have to code around. I plan to stick with "1.0.2" as the minimum supported version for now.

Version 0.6 has been released, which now removes the voting link for posts you've already voted on and adds the capability of listing out all the people who've added a vote of thanks for a given post.

    Hi Paulhawke

Thanks a bundle, it works like a charm :O). I have only one thing left which is very minor.
Would it be possible to use Ajax when you have voted, so the vote appears right away, instead of having to reload the page before it appears?

  11. Thank you for this exciting Plugin!

    Two suggestions:
    - left/right positioning in addition to before/after post would be great
    - having the "thanks"-vote on every post seems a little overblown. I would like to see an option to add it manually with each topic/post.

    Cheers
    Lars

  12. Really like the plugin, but having the same problem as farhadm & 13mhz.

And would like to see the second suggestion from the_Wish.

    Thanks. :)

  13. @farhadm and @13mhz - Thanks for the bug report. I have tracked down what the problem is, and will release a version 0.8 later today to fix it.

@the_Wish - positioning, sizing and styling the <div> that contains the voting results and vote link is easily handled through a minor modification to your template's syle.css file. That said, I can add an option that lets you override your template and force the text to be left / right / center aligned. I think that would satisfy all users (those who want to edit their template, and those who dont).
