This plugin creates an option to convert forums within a bbPress installation into support forums where the users can mark the topics as resolved, not resolved or not a support question.

The administrator can also set the default status of the topics, and which statuses have special views.

You can select if the original poster has the ability to set the status on topic creation and whether they can change the status later.

Three additional options add a visual marker to each topic to indicate it's support, locked or sticky status.

  • Not a support question = empty slot
  • Unresolved = red ball (alternative orange ball also provided)
  • Resolved = green ball
  • Locked = padlock
  • Sticky = star

Version 3.0 of this plugin removes support for bbPress versions prior to bbPress 0.9. A maintenance branch of the 2.3 version of this plugin is available which will remain updated with security fixes, but no new functionality will be added. The 2.3 branch is available here:

  1. None of the graphics re showing up? Any ideas?

  2. You must set the option to show icons in the administration area.

You need to be logged in as a keymaster, then go to "Site Management" -> "Support Forum".

  3. Thanks for a much needed plugin. I'm having a few difficulties, though. When I follow the /forum/view/unresolved link, I get an internal server error. Everything else seem to work fine.

    Try it out at http://wordpress.dk/forum/

    Using:
    bbPress 0.8.1
    Support Forum 1.2.1

  6. I've done an upgrade from version 0.75 to 0.8.1 but did not drop anything from the database--and everything seems to upgrade just fine.
I downloaded version 2.0.1 using the link above, and have also checked it against the plugins-dev version.

I am not even able to go to the Site Management page as I get this error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/.bass/griffinsmith/askhear.com/my-plugins/support-forum.php on line 85

I have looked at line 85 , but don't understand the nature of the error.

I thought permalinks would be part of the problem, but I've tweaked my .htaccess and config.php files both ways with the same kind of problem.

By the number of times it's been downloaded and the few recent comments here, it's apparent others have had success although I don't know the details of version # etc... Any suggestions?

  7. @griffinsmithy

The plugin is written for PHP5 only. I suspect you are running PHP4. I'm guessing by the path that is in your error message that you are running your site at Dreamhost. If so, then it is very easy to change to PHP5 using their control panel.

  8. Version 2.0.3 is PHP4 compatible

    Posted: 2 years ago #
  9. Thank's SamBauers, I've uploaded the 2.0.3 version and also changed my PHP setting to 5. I've usually used PHP 5 for my other sites with Dreamhost (mostly just Wordpress installs). I suppose when I installed an early version of bbpress, I used 4.

Looks like everything works fine now.

  12. I just activated this plugin and im getting a error in the admin control panel. This is my error:

Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in /home/mywebsite/public_html/forum/my-plugins/support-forum.php on line 715

    Ive got php version 5.2.3

Anyone know how to resolve this issue?

    Posted: 2 years ago #
  13. I'm having an odd issue with this plugin... I enable it, and I can't change the status of a topic from not resolve to resolved or whatever else.

I haven't tracked down the source of this problem yet, but I'm using it with full slugs mode on a php4 server. I've got multiviews enabled in apache. I'm also running the current 0.8.2.1 release with no core hacks, and it's integrated with wordpress.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

  14. I'm getting the same error even if I turn off the permalinks.

I did a sql trace, and I don't see any update statement being fired, so I have to assume the postback isn't being handled somehow.

  18. I had the same problem as MaryJane until I saved the settings, now I get the same problem as Geek.

I get it whether I set default to not a support question or unresolved.

I'm forced to disable the plugin.

  19. > I had the same problem as MaryJane until I saved the settings, now I get the same problem as Geek.

I have fixed the first problem (update soon) but can you give me more info about the second problem. I can't reproduce it on Firefox 2 for Mac, Safari 3 for Mac or IE6 on Windows.
